Eagle Fall Crawl JEnGA Creation

My Experience Creating Games for the Eagle Fall Crawl

When I first met Tia Crabtree, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Eagle Magazine, I had no idea that our conversation would lead me to a brand-new adventure—creating games for the Eagle Fall Crawl. Tia reached out to me with the opportunity to bring some fun, interactive elements to the event, and although I wasn’t exactly a seasoned game creator, I was up for the challenge! After all, who could say no to contributing to such a fantastic community event in the heart of Eagle, Idaho?

I decided to focus on a crowd favorite—Jenga. However, I wanted to put my own spin on it, making sure it wasn’t just any standard set. My first task was sanding each individual piece, which turned out to be more time-consuming than I initially expected. But, as with anything, the small details make all the difference, and I was determined to make the game not only fun to play but aesthetically pleasing too.

Eagle, Idaho's Eagle Fall Crawl Jenga Creation

Once the pieces were smooth and polished, I moved on to creating clean, sturdy storage boxes for the Jenga sets. I wanted the boxes to be practical, so I designed them with an easy pull-out method. No more fumbling to get the pieces out of a cramped box—players could simply slide the Jenga blocks out effortlessly and jump right into the game.

As I worked on these details, I realized how exciting it was to contribute something hands-on to the Fall Crawl. It’s a beloved event in our town, filled with energy, and I’m honored that Tia trusted me with this task. I’ve always been willing to try new things, so tackling game-making, even without prior experience, was an adventure I embraced wholeheartedly.

Now, I can't wait to see the games in action at the Eagle Fall Crawl, where they’ll bring people together for a bit of friendly competition and laughter. I guess you could say I’m up for anything—and this time, it was crafting a unique twist on a classic game that will be part of a memorable day in Eagle, Idaho.
