Welcome to Lasko Woodcraft - Where Your Vision Meets Exceptional Craftsmanship

Hi, I’m Barry Lasko, founder of Lasko Woodcraft. Woodworking has been my passion for as long as I can remember. After 30 years of perfecting my craft, I’m excited to turn this lifelong hobby into a full-time pursuit, dedicated to bringing your custom woodcraft ideas to life.

About Lasko Woodcraft

My love for personalized woodworking and hand-crafted furniture began in the 1960s during family trips to San Francisco, where I was inspired by the creativity of people building unique wooden structures from scraps. A pivotal stop was at The Nut Tree in Sacramento, where I would buy balsa wood airplane kits. These experiences fueled my passion for working with wood, leading me to take woodworking classes throughout high school and graduate from Boulder City High School in 1979.

Since then, I’ve spent decades honing my skills, turning raw materials into one-of-a-kind pieces that blend beauty, functionality, and artistry.

  • After graduating high school I went to Brigham Young University and earned a bachelor's degree in Animal Science. BYU also had a student woodshop and I spent a lot of time there building things for my family. In my senior year I was introduced to my future wife, Karen, who had come from New Zealand on a track scholarship. We graduated on Friday and were married Saturday. At this time I decided to pursue a Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery so we applied at Loma Linda School of Dentistry and off we went to our next 4 year adventure. I had a few basic shop tools at the time and continued growing my passion and skill everything woodworking. I graduated with my DDS and moved back to the Henderson , Nevada area. We had 4 children had a flourishing dental practice for almost 30 years. I continued pursuing my passion for woodworking and started buying bigger equipment.

I retired in 2016 and we moved to the Emmett, Idaho area during the worst snowstorm of the century. I was here in Idaho that I decided to expand my woodworking hobby. I do everything from taking a tree out of the ground, milling the tree on one of my 4 sawmills, kiln drying the wood in one of my 2 commercial kilns, to building and creating final art forms with wood and epoxy. I would love to share my passion for wood with anyone looking to create a piece of art.
